Ramon Stoppelenburg is an award-winning travel writer and photographer, currently based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He was born in the Netherlands, raised in Indonesia and grew up in The Netherlands a bit more. However, he prefers to call himself a serial entrepreneur.
Before even finishing his journalism study, he travelled the world for free on its most unique way ever done, with the first social use of the ineternet, through his website Letmestayforaday.com, from 2001 to 2003.
Not knowing that this was the small step that was needed to let the users of the internet believe that the internet could also be used in a social way, instead of only an economic way.
One year later he wrote the book about this unforgettable experience.
In the mean time he also was a manager of a restaurant/bar for a year, a disc-jockey at pubs and parties and certified stress relief massage therapist.
As an all-round freelancer in online internet media productions he also continued to work for clients like BNN, the ANWB, TRAVEL Magazine, Nijgh & Van Ditmar Publishing, HCC, Transavia.com, UWV, TNO, DHL, Loyalis, Foreign Media Books and their imprint TradeMark.
In June 2008 he compiled the literary stories for the book Fasten Your Seat Belt!, which contained the best new stories about flying from young Dutch authors.
That same month he climbed Kilimanjaro for the first time myself and discovered that such climb can be done by everyone (with a bit of condition). The Expedition Kilimanjaro was born! So far over 400 people have climbed Africa's highest mountain through Ramon's tour company with a 99% success rate!
Since 2010 he also manages The Gerry & Marty Show, Amsterdam's best improv comedy talent, for their nationwide and international tours. You can book them too, ha!
In September 2010 Ramon exchanged Amsterdam for the capital city of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, where he continued his online enterprises. His company is registered at the Registry of Companies in Hong Kong.
In 2009 the research started for the European Cooking Trip, something that did not exist yet. In 2010 the preparation ended into a full itinerary and this website, with its first trips scheduled for the summer of 2011. So guess, who'll be your driver?
